He is also survived by his son, Chase (Kristi) LeBlanc, and his grandchildren, Lexy, CJ and Kit, all of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; additional survivors are his brother, James (Jan) Litfin of Topeka, Kansas; sisters, Mary Trewartha of Placerville, Calif., and Ann Knoblauch of Garvin, Minn.; also several special nieces and nephews.
George was born in Buffalo, Minn., to Joseph F. and Florence Dodd Litfin on April 5, 1926. He left Minnesota during his teen years to join his brother, Joe, who was working on the Luark Ranch in Western Colorado. He left there to join the Maritime Service and was trained on Catalina Island, Calif., and sailed the Atlantic, Pacific and the Caribbean during WW II. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1952 in Korea and was honorable discharged in 1952.
After his marriage to Lois in 1968, they moved from Colorado to West Virginia. He owned and operated the Sissonville Car Wash from 1979 until 1992. George also retired as Superintendent of Grounds at West Virginia State College in 1989 and loved spending time working on golf courses in Colorado and West Virginia.
In accordance with George's wishes, there will be no service or visitation. His ashes will be scattered at his chosen location at a later date.
Heartfelt thanks to Hubbard Hospice House for their care of George and Lois. And to the many friends and family for all the prayers, love, support, calls and visits during this difficult time.
