

Jon was born September 24, 1952, to George and Lucy Youell, he grew up in Rand and graduated from Charleston Catholic High School. He attended both Morris Harvey and West Virginia Tech, where our father said he majored in billiards and beer. He retired from Coal Clean as a Purchasing Agent.
Jon had quite the love of trains and boats, especially paddle wheel boats, his dream came true as the Captain of the Sherry B. Jon was most happy by the river on his boat, watching the boats, at the beach or fishing on Knapps Creek. His Christmas trains and village set up were quite famous, he kept growing it year after year until it took up the entire dining room. He was so very proud of it.
Jon was preceded in death by his love, Sherry; his parents, George and Lucy Youell; grandparents, George and Frances Youell, and William and Stella Cochran.
Jon is survived by his son, Brandon (Betsy) Youell; stepchildren, Debbie (Lemmy) Kennedy, Tang (Lisa) Ney, Janci (Kevin) Goins; brother, Thomas Youell; sisters, Linda (Donald) Taylor, Annie (Donnie) Nelson; grandchildren, Sydnea, Eli, Lilly and Mason Youell, Krissi (Scott) Ellis, Katelyn (Adam) Smith, Chance Whitt, Justin, Taylor and Jennifer Ney, Jeb and Jarret Baker; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Emory Youell and several others.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with Pastor Steven Smith officiating. Following the service, at Jon’s request, cremation will be honored and a private family Inurnment will be held at Montgomery Memorial Park, London.
A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
