

He was a gentle soul with a love for firearms and bull dozers. Steve worked at Pratt Mining and retired from Walker Machinery in Belle where he was a master heavy equipment mechanic. He retired to a quiet remote area in Spurlockville, West Virginia. He will be greatly missed by his family and dearest friends, Brian Vannest, Hoss Toney, and Bill and Diane Skiles. Steve was an army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, King Hiram and Martha Dunlap Green; and wife, Lois Green.
Steve is survived by his daughters, Leah (Boyce Henderson) Green of Vera Beach, Florida, Laura (Tracy) Hudson of Charleston and Amy Green of Mt. Joy, Pennsylvania.; sisters, Ellen Freeman of North Carolina and Alma Green of Maxwelton, West Virginia; brother, Charlie Green of Maxwelton, West Virginia; grandchildren, Aaron (Krystal) Skiles, Emily (Rick) Green and Christina (Paul) Gambrah; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Brian Vannest officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Steve’s caregiver, Dana Johnson, and to Melanie Martin and Tiffany Manns with Kanawha Hospice Care.
