

Joann was born in Putney on January 6, 1929, to the late Ted and Thelma Wolfe Bostic. She married Rev. Melvin Holstein on June 22, 1957, and during their 50 years together they ministered at Churches in Beckley and Kanawha County. She attended Point Lick Gospel Tabernacle. Joann had a beautiful voice, and she began singing at an early age. She continued to share her talent until recently as her health declined. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Joann was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Rev. Melvin S. Holstein; son, Teddy J. Martin; brothers, John B. and Thomas “Tinker” Bostic; grandson, Andy Martin; daughter-in-law, Christi Martin.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (Lana) and John Martin; daughter, Sherri (Fred) Davis; grandchildren, Gary (Vanessa) Martin Jr., Teddy Joe Martin II, Misti (Michael) Todorovich, Stephanie (Kevin) Whiteheart, Cynthia (Allen) Baria, Aaron (Holly) and Adam (Nicole) Aldridge; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Charles Hardy, Rev. Larry Campbell and Dennis Moles officiating. Entombment will be at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
