

John was born on December 31, 1932, in Montgomery, West Virginia, a son of the late Clarence Huddleston and Tempi Sara Blake. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Charlene Huddleston; brother, Gene Huddleston of Cannelton, West Virginia; and stepfather, Richard Blake.
John is survived by his son, Mark (Whitney) Huddleston of Elkview; daughter, Susan (Paul) Gardner of Miami, Florida; three grandchildren, Ryan Gardner, Taylor and Joshua Huddleston; brother, Clarence Huddleston of Cannelton; sisters, Katherine Kessling and Shirley Kendricks both of Montgomery, Norma Bess and Brenda Blake both of Cannelton, Patty Dorsey of Deerfield, Ohio. Special thanks to his caretaker, Gloria Kinney, for the past few years.
John retired from Union Carbide, US Army Reserve and WV Water Development Authority. He was a Korean War veteran with twenty-eight years of military service in the Army Reserves where he achieved the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He was a member of the Kanawha County Parks and Recreation Board and served as president of Malden Public Service District. He was a member of Salina Lodge #27 AF & AM and a board member of the Malden Fire Department.
A Visitation with family and friends to Celebrate John’s life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2025, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden.
A private family Committal Service and burial service will be held at Montgomery Memorial Park, London.
