Judy Carol (Pickens) Hill

She was born in Charleston to Clyde and Mary Pickens. She was a 1969 graduate of Sherman High School and had been an insurance claims specialist with McDonough Caperton, later retiring from Kroger Company in Marmet.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry Hill, whom would’ve been celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary this year; parents, Clyde and Mary Pickens; brother, David Pickens; and lifelong best friend, Sharon Tincher.

Judy is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Tom McClure of Elkview; sister, Melissa Pugh of Kanawha City; brother, Ernest Pickens of Kanawha City, along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Judy loved attending church and attended many area services making friends among the congregations, although as her health declined, she started enjoying the televised sermons. Judy enjoyed any activity that her daughter participated in, from dance to cheerleading. She was an avid WVU Mountaineers football fan, she and Larry could be heard in the neighborhood celebrating a win or booing a loss. She loved to bake and make special treats for her family and friends. Judy had a generous heart by nature; she came from humble beginnings and found joy in her adult life by giving to others. If you knew her, you were automatically her friend and you never left her company empty handed. She is loved beyond measure and will be missed terribly.

The family would like to extend a sincere “Thank you” to the staff at 4 South Memorial for their kind, compassionate care. They would also like to acknowledge the staff at the Hubbard Hospice House for their kindness, care, compassion and genuine love for their patients and families that they care for, as it is unmatched. We could not have made it through the last week without their guidance, and we could never thank them enough for assisting us during one of the most difficult times of our lives.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, with a Memorial Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor David Peters officiating.
