Karen Burgess

Karen was born in Charleston on June 7, 1965, to Beulah Keller Wentz and the late Kenneth Burgess. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend. She was a 1983 graduate of DuPont High School and was a retired teller at TRUIST Bank. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and loved to read and go to the beach.

Along with her father, Karen was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Burgess; nephew, Corey Burgess; and step-brothers, Jeff and Robbie Wentz.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Gerald Dale Burgess; children, Carlos Burgess of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Joel Burgess of Parkersburg and Lindsey Burgess of Morgantown; granddaughter, Solene Burgess; mother and step-father, Beulah and Bobby Wentz of Charleston; sister, Kay Wentz Goff of Fairplain; and step-brothers, Jerry Wentz of South Carolina and Matt Wentz of Charleston.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Dana Clay officiating. Entombment will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

A visitation with family and friends will held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at the funeral home.
