Kathleen "Kitty" Trippany

Kathleen was born on January 22, 1928, in Ansted, West Virginia, to Fred and Janie Welch. She was a graduate of Ansted High School. Following graduation, she moved to Malden, where she began her career with Columbia Gas. She dedicated many years to the company and retired as a Comptroller.

Kathleen was a faithful member of Malden Baptist Church for more than 70 years. Her church was an important part of her life, and she served as church treasurer for more than 30 years. She also shared her love of music by singing in the church choir.

Kathleen had a love for travel and adventure. Over the years, she visited all 50 states as well as several countries, creating memories and experiences that she treasured throughout her life.

In 2015, Kathleen moved to South Carolina with her sister, niece Cathy, and Cathy's husband, Brenzil. She returned to West Virginia in 2020, where she spent her final years close to family and friends. For the last three years, Kathleen made her home at Bayberry Retirement Home. She truly enjoyed her time there, forming many friendships and becoming part of the Bayberry family. The love and kindness shown to her by the staff were beyond words, and her family will always be grateful for the exceptional care she received.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Janie Welch; her two husbands, Lowell McClung and Don Trippany; her infant daughter, Ann Welch McClung; and her siblings, Wilomene Welch Skaggs, Fred Welch, who was killed during World War II, Kenneth Welch, and Norman Welch.

She is survived by her niece, Cathy (Brenzil) Roberts, and many great-nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

Kathleen will be remembered for her faith, her love of family, her dedication to her church, her adventurous spirit, and the many lives she touched throughout her 98 years.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday September 29, 2026, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with her great nephew, Sean Skaggs officiating. Entombment will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.

A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Malden Baptist Church, 200 Wise Drive, Malden, West Virginia 25306.
