

Lillian was born in Charleston on June 6, 1949, to the late Rev. Winfred and Mary Buckley Dawson. She was retired from Kanawha Hospice Care; a member of Valley Grove Church of the Nazarene where she played the organ, taught Sunday School and was the Missionary President. Lillian loved attending the Nazarene Campground at Summersville and working with the children. She was a volunteer at Valley Grove Elementary School and at the attendance office at Capital High School.
Lillian is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Mike Hunter; sons, Sam Hunter (Fiancé, Kimberly Gethins) of Pepperell, Massachusetts and Chris (Sarah) Hunter of Charleston; sisters, Linda (Jack) Chambers of Thornton, Colorado and Barbara Hess of Sissonville; grandchildren, Paxton and Marlowe Hunter; niece, Amanda Hess; nephews, Jack and Paul Chambers, Jesse David and William Erich Hess; several great-nieces and -nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Valley Grove Church of the Nazarene, 4082 Rutledge Road, Charleston, West Virginia 25311 with Pastor Ed Damron officiating. Burial will follow at Hunter Cemetery, Charleston.
A visitation with family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Thursday.
