Lorena was born in Charleston on December 31, 1923, to the late Walter and Alma Pauley Belcher. She was a retired Senior Customer Service Representative with McDonough Caperton Insurance. She loved the Lord and attended church faithful until illness prevented her from doing so.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Marshall Norman and Hershel Barnhouse; sister, Phyllis Patton; brothers, Ralph, Opal, Clyde, Herbert and Mayford Belcher.
Lorena is survived by her son, David (Veronica) Norman of Charleston; granddaughters, Christy (Lonnie) Bryson of Charleston and Susan (David) Carnes of Tallahassee, Florida; great-grandchildren, Breanna McCann, Olivia and Vivian Carnes; and sisters, Freda Hutton of Charleston and Joan Ratliff of Beckley.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor David Mitchell officiating. A private interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2019, at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Sweetbrier Assisted Living for the excellent care and compassion during the time mom was under their care. The family cannot express the gratitude and thanks to Wanda Stull for her love, patience and dedication in watching over mom until her passing.
