Rev. Michael Wayne Quinn

April 19, 1950December 10, 2019

Rev. Michael Wayne Quinn, 69, of French Creek, formerly of Belle, WV, joined his beloved wife, Cynthia Jane Henderson Quinn, in Heaven on Tuesday, December 10th, 2019. Mike was born on April 19th, 1950 to Sherman Allen “Buddy” and Ethel Mildred Withrow Quinn. Mike was a 1968 graduate of DuPont High School and later obtained a Theology degree.

Mike was considered an intellect by all who knew him. He excelled in the field of gas chromatography, receiving multiple awards, working for and retiring from Union Carbide. After retirement, he moved to Brooks Hill and spent the majority of his time taking care of his farm with his cherished four-legged companion, “Miss Q”. Mike loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He especially enjoyed his time hunting with his Dad, brother, sons, and grandsons. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, studying the Bible, reading an occasional novel, deer watching, trout fishing, and exchanging conversation with his close friends and neighbors.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Willie Marie Quinn and his brother, Nathan Arlen Quinn. Mike will be lovingly remembered by his two sons, Christopher and wife Michelle of Leesburg, GA, and Nick of Charleston, WV; his three grandsons, Alex and wife Cathaleena, Steven, and Caleb; his precious great-granddaughter, Ellyanna; his two sisters, Debra Atkins and Lisa Zappia; his sister-in-law, Lois Quinn; many nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends.

There will be a small grave-side service for family and close friends on Monday, December 16th, 1pm at Grandview Memorial Park in Dunbar, WV, with Reverend Randall Topping officiating. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made in Mike’s honor to a charity of your choosing.

The online guest book can be accessed at www.stevensandgrass.com.

The family is being cared for by Stevens & Grass Funeral Home in Malden, WV.

I'm saddened to learn of Mike's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Mike for several years at Union Carbide. We worked in the lab together and on several trips to Gulf Coast plants. He helped me transitioning to a new area. I was always impressed by his wide range of interests ranging from theology to singing to hunting. He also always seemed to have a special "project" going on. Blessings to his family.

My earthly heart is saddened to learn that Mike is no longer with us, but my heavenly heart is joyful that Mike is home! Mike was an extremely important part of a hard time in my life as my pastor. I respect his generous biblical knowledge and understanding, his kindness and friendliness. It is because of him that I live with the same urgency he did, knowing that our moments are counted and our biggest joy in this life comes from shining God’s light in love into others’ lives. I am grateful to have known him and his heart for God. I’ll be thinking of and praying for his family during this time.

I never knew Mike well, just on my occasional visits home to see my Mom & Dad (Nettie & Harold Golden). Mike was a wonderful neighbor to my parents, stopping down on a regular basis to check on them and see if they needed anything. He has left a wonderful legacy of caring and sharing the love of Jesus.

Michael will be missed by so many. He was a best friend to me, Joe and Garrett. We have very fond memories of having spent time with him. He often came to Morgantown to visit us, whether it was for a lunch, a dinner, or to bring us apples for our horses. I worked with Mike and Union Carbide and although we got a lot of work done, we also had a lot of fun. He taught me a lot about gas chromatography and assisted me with some projects. He was very proud of his sons and grandchildren and had recently sent me a picture of his great granddaughter. Thoughts and prayers to the family during this most difficult time. Garrett sends his love Uncle Mike - until we see you again - Bicycle.

Mike was a caring man, he used to come visit with my mom and dad when they lived on Brooks Hill . My mom would make him cookies, and hide them from my dad, so dad would say. But they both liked him. they have both passed away now. Sorry for your loss.

All of us at South Buckhannon Mission Church will miss Mike. I loved to hear Mike preach the word of God. He always amazed me with his memorization of scripture. Rest easy Mike, you have finally gained your heavenly reward.

I first met Mike when he became a board member at James W. Curry Library/Park, where I was the librarian, for 14 years. Mike was a great asset to the board and a kind person to know. He was loved by all.
