Paul J. Gay

Paul was born in Putney, WV, to the late Clemith ”Goat” Gay and Violet Marie Gay. Also preceded in death by his wife, Linda L. Buckner Gay; son, Paul David Gay; sister, Barbara Cravens.

Paul is survived by his daughters, Kimberly D. Samples (Zack) and Kelli Winfree (Mike); brothers, Harold Gay, Larry “Buckshot” Gay and Ricky Gay (Vickie); sisters, Phyllis Colemen, Brenda Raines and Paulla Ballard; grandchildren, Zackery Samples Jr. (Hannah), Danielle Samples, Makayla Hanks (Austin) and Hannah Gay; and great-grandchildren, Aria, Tyrian, Ellie, Walker, Landree and Banks. Paul has several nieces and nephews at which he had a hand in raising.

Paul was a retired lineman from ConRail.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday June 1, 2026, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with Pastor Mike Long officiating. The burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park, London, WV.

A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
