She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Helen Hunter; her brothers, Ralph (Janet) Hunter, Ray Hunter, and Rickey (Elizabeth) Hunter; and her granddaughter, Morgan.
Regina is survived by her daughters, Samantha Woodyard (John) and Victoria Woodyard; her brother, Robert (Joan) Hunter; her grandsons, Andre Donivan Hamilton (Morgan), Lucas Hamilton (Adison), and Xander Holstein; and her great-granddaughter, Zaria; Sister in Law Gale Hunter, and a host of nieces and nephews. She also held a special place in her heart for her bonus grandsons, Kirk Tallman, Travis Tallman, Adrean Walker, Ryan Burgess, and many others.
Regina was blessed to spend her final years on the hill where she was raised — the place where so many of her happiest memories were made. She never missed an opportunity to share stories of her childhood and the homestead that meant so much to her, which joyfully returned to her family a few years before her passing.
Regina graduated from Charleston High School in 1963. She attended Valley Grove Church of the Nazarene for most of her life and was a committed member of the Lions Club. She also dedicated many years of service to the State of West Virginia throughout her career.
Regina possessed a true servant’s heart and a strength that touched everyone around her. She was especially known for caring for children who were not her own, opening her home and providing comfort, stability, and love to many of her daughters’ friends during difficult times in their lives.
The loss of Regina leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her family finds comfort in the lessons she taught, the love she gave so freely, and the memories that will continue to guide them.
Regina’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Shadi Abu Halimah, Dr. B. Hoffan, Dr. W. Weily, Dr. W. Durden, the Hospice staff, and the many CAMC units that cared for Regina throughout her journey, especially the STICU team, whose compassion and dedication meant so much to her family.
