Roger Lee Fore, 76, of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston following a short illness. Born in Charleston on February 6, 1950, Roger was the son of the late Owen C. and Eavelyne Litton Fore.
After graduating from DuPont High School, he proudly answered the call to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Tet Offensive of the Vietnam War. His respect for the military and those who served alongside him remained with him throughout his life. He carried the values of honor, respect, loyalty, discipline, and commitment into everything he did.
Following his military service, Roger devoted many years to his work as a carpenter with Clark Construction. He was known for his exceptional work ethic, dependability, and the pride he took in a job well done. Roger believed that if something was worth doing, it was worth doing right. The quality of his craftsmanship and his dedication to providing for his family reflected the kind of man he was—steady, hardworking, and humble. Outside of work, Roger found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid NASCAR enthusiast and a devoted fan of WVU athletics.
Roger was a man of quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and deep love for those closest to him. Of all the roles Roger filled throughout his life, none brought him greater happiness than being a husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the center of his world. He treasured every moment spent with them, whether gathered around the dinner table, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying each other’s company. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He delighted in their accomplishments, laughter, and unique personalities, and the love he had for each of them knew no bounds. The memories he created with them will remain cherished gifts that they will carry throughout their lives.
Along with his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his nephew, Travis Wright.
Roger leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion and will be deeply missed by those who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Brenda Fore; his three children and their spouses, Shawn Joseph (Tammy) Fore of Charleston, Joey Dawn (David) Meadows of Dunbar, and Nicole Lee (Jason) Mayse of Marmet; his beloved grandchildren, Joseph, Joel, Kierstyn, Madilyn, Jaxson, Kingston, and Kane; his sisters, Brenda (Eugene) Justice of Campbells Creek and Karen Wright of North Carolina; and his nieces and nephew, Melissa Burchett, Stephanie Carr, and John Wright.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at CAMC whose compassion, kindness, and professional care brought comfort to Roger and his loved ones during his illness. Your dedication and support during a difficult time will never be forgotten.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home in Malden, West Virginia.
