Ruth was a lifetime member of the Valley Grove Methodist Church where she held many offices. In addition to her church work, Ruth had a love for gardening. On summer mornings Ruth was often seen working in her garden until she was well into her 90's. She also loved to sew and quilt. Through the years Ruth made many beautiful quilts which are cherished by her family and friends. Ruth was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother and will be missed by all.
Along with her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Spradling, granddaughter, Lisa Rhodes, grandson, Timothy Spradling and daughter-in-law, Blanche Spradling.
Ruth is survived by her children Dallas (Geraldine) Spradling of Ripley, David (Judy Kline) Spradling of Charleston, Paul (Carol) Spradling of Cross Lanes, William (Jane) Spradling of Charleston, Judy Spradling of Charleston, Joseph E. (Debra) Spradling of Logan, and Steven (Connie) Spradling of St. Albans, 11 grandchildren, Tammy Walker of Sissonville, Keli Spradling, Robert Spradling of Buckhannon, Jeffrey Spradling of Charleston, Lora Roberts of Charleston, Micheal Spradling of Cleveland, Ohio, Mary Olsen of Jefferson, Maine, Barbara Bowman of Hallowell, Maine, Stanley Kim of Naples, Florida, Carol McClure of Prince Edward Island, Canada and Estelle Weise of Dallas, Texas, 13 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their thanks to the Oak Ridge Nursing Home for the care and kindness they provided to Ruth.
The Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2019, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Leslie Gallian officiating. The burial will follow the service at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
The visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, March 21, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
