Born on January 29th, 1954, Steve was the son of Frank and Shirley Donato of Erbacon, WV.
Steve is survived by his beloved son, Steven Donato (Tiffany); granddaughter, Gracie Billanti (Ben); great-grandson, Lincoln Billanti; and siblings, Kenny Donato (Betty Jo), Sam Donato, and Carolyn Donato. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Donato, and parents, Frank and Shirley Donato.
Steve was a man who measured his life not in accomplishments, but in relationships. Steve was most proud to be a father and grandfather. Some of his favorite memories in life were spent at the ballfields. Whether it was under the Friday night lights at Calvert Field watching his son play football for the East Bank Pioneers or spending the weekends at his granddaughter’s softball tournaments all summer long. No matter who or where they were playing, the cooler and camp chairs were packed, and he and his wife, Lynnie, were always in the front row and ready to cheer on the team. Anyone that knew Stevie knew without a doubt he would be at the field with his team shirt tucked in and his team ball cap on, ready to be every player’s biggest fan.
For the majority of Steve’s life, on any given day in the fall or hunting season you could find him in Erbacon, WV with his brothers and son. Whether it was tracking down deer or exchanging stories over a hot meal, Steve cherished these times immensely. When his hunting days were over, he still loved to travel to his old home in the fall and spend time with them while they carried on with the tradition. Steve soaked in these moments with his family; he cherished them dearly.
Anyone that knew Steve and Lynn Donato knew that you never saw one without the other. Married for 48 years, Steve and Lynn shared a love that few are fortunate enough to experience. They were true soul mates and best friends. Many of their days were spent in the kitchen together, Steve at the kitchen table reading the paper while Lynn made her famous biscuits and gravy. They never wanted anything more than to spend time together and with their family. Steve missed Lynn dearly since her passing. Their family is comforted greatly in knowing they are now both rejoicing with their Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
