

Virginia Irene Arnold, 90, of Charleston, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Charleston Gardens. She was a homemaker and a member of Valley Grove Church of the Nazarene. She loved to crochet, work with flowers and make pies. Virginia was born on July 8, 1926 in Quick to the late James and Martha McPeak Sweeney. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Winston Arnold; sisters, Leana Miller and May Keeney; and brothers, Ralph, Elvin, Woodrow and Johnny Sweeney. Virginia is survived by her son, Ronnie (Lisa) Arnold of Wallback; daughter, Renaya (Barry) Cantrell of Charleston; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with the Rev. Rick Gardner officiating. The entombment will follow the service at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney. Family and friends will gather for the visitation on Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Virginia’s honor to Kanawha Hospice, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W., Charleston, WV 25312-2536. The family would like to send a special thank you to the care givers at Charleston Gardens for their love and care and for making her feel like family; and also to Kanawha Hospice for their love and care.
