Virona Kirby Jackson

Virona Kirby Jackson, 103, of Charleston, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at her home. Mrs. Jackson was born in Beechwood, West Virginia, on April 1, 1913, to the late Charles and Polly Gibson Kirby. She was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh Day Advent Church, Charleston. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Elvin Jackson; sisters, Lottie Vance, Gladys Myers and Inez Myers; and brothers, Evert, Whitten, Dawson and Elmer Kirby. She is survived by her daughter, Polly Boyd of Charleston; special caregiver, Kathy Jo Shaffer of Charleston; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and -nephews. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Kenneth Hayes officiating. The burial will follow the service at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. A visitation with family and friends will be held Thursday, December 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations in memory of Virona Kirby Jackson be sent to Kanawha Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W., Charleston, West Virginia 25312.
