June was born in Charleston on July 7, 1926 to the late Vernon P. And Charlie Mae Armstrong Webb. She graduated from DuPont High School and attended Business College in Chicago, Illinois. In the early 1950’s she worked at Cecil Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Florida. Upon returning home to Charleston, she worked for Watkins Engineering and then began a 30 year career with the West Virginia Department of Highways, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Point Lick Gospel Tabernacle Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle; sister-in-law, Ada Young Webb; and life-long friend, Gladys Trigg Wright.
Surviving are her children, Charlotte Samples (Philip) of Liberty, Kathy Lanham (Gary) of Sandyville, Danny Burke (Tonya) of Charleston; grandchildren, Tommy Kelly (Amy) of Evans, Luke Nunley (Jennifer) of Liberty, Kile Burke (Jamie) of Charleston, Stoney Burke of Charleston; great-grandchildren, Emma and Nathan Kelly, and Bryar, Branson, Berkley Nunley and soon to be great-grandson, Parker Lee Burke. Also surviving are her brothers, Bill Webb of Melbourne, Florida and Pat Webb of Charleston; nephew, Mark Webb of Melbourne, Florida.
June was an avid baseball fan and attended many Cincinnati Reds home games. She later cheered for the Atlanta Braves and always enjoyed watching the World Series.
The family would like to thank Dr. William Harris, Nancy and staff for the excellent care of our mother. Also, thank you Michelle and Melinda from Kanawha Hospice.
At her request, there will be no viewing or service. Anyone wishing to donate to charity, the family suggests St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, which was June’s favorite charity.
