William Eugene Layton

Bill was born in Charleston on September 13, 1943 to the late William Henry and Maude Blankenship Layton. He was a retired School Bus Drive for Kanawha County Board of Education with 38 years of service. He also worked for the State of WV DOH. Bill had a green thumb and he loved to do custom painting on vehicles and motorcycles.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Board Layton; brothers, James Layton and Hershel Blankenship.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Billie Jean (Adam) Kozak of Charleston; sister, Barbara (Robert) Fleshman of Tad; grandson, Hunter Kozak; nephew, Robert Wayne Fleshman of Tad.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday May 23, 2024 at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with Pastor Mike Long officiating.

A visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday May 22, 2024 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

Flowing the services, at Bill’s request, cremation will be honored and his cremains will be buried at a later date at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
