
Albina H. Schmidt, 101, of Barnegat and Tinton Falls, died on May 31, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, she graduated from Erasmus High School and Harrisonburg State Teachers College (James Madison). She was a gifted dancer, gymnast and swimmer. After teaching in Brooklyn, she married and moved to Barnegat in 1952 to start a family. Albina taught at regional schools, lastly, the Potter School in Berkeley Township for Physical Education and 1st grade. Albina retired from teaching in 1983. She later worked in real estate in Manahawkin, N.J.
Albina was predeceased by her husband, John F. Schmidt Sr., her two sisters, Constance and Alexandra; and her two brothers, August and Albert. She is survived by her son, John F. Schmidt Jr. and his wife Leslie E. Schmidt of Tinton Falls, as well as her grandchildren, Todd and Tracey. Albina is also survived by five great grandchildren; Noelle, Conner, Jerome, Tori and Grace.
Her son remembers how often when dining in the Berkeley Twp. Area, men and women would come up and thank her for being their 1st grade teacher. Her son also thanks her for the sacrifices she mad for him. A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Tuckerton on June 5,2014 at 11Am Thos L Shinn was entrusted with the arrangements
