Alice A. Messler, 91, of Manahawkin, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 17, 2018. She was born in New Brunswick, NJ and resided most of her life in Allentown, PA, summering in Beach Haven before moving there permanently in 1991 after retiring as a Honors Science teacher for the Allentown School District. She graduated from Cedar Crest College.
Alice was active in numerous groups and organizations. She was a proud member of the DAR, Great John Mathis Chapter, and over the years the Historical Society of LBI, and LBI Garden Club, to name a few. In her spare time, she loved doing crossword puzzles, knitting, and was known for her cross stitch samplers.
Alice was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, William T. Messler. Surviving are her six children; William and his wife, Virginia, Andrew and his wife, Jennifer, Margaret Schaffer, Bruce and his wife, Virginia, Brian and his wife, Suzanne, and Donald, thirteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, Sunday, June 24th from 6-8p.m., and Monday 12-12:45 p.m., followed by the committal service at 2 p.m. at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Wrightstown, NJ.
