Bruce Robert VanMater

June 29, 1965 – August 13, 2025

Born on June 29, 1965, in New Jersey, Bruce VanMater spent much of his life along the familiar shores of the Jersey Shore—a place he cherished, where the salt air and rolling waves brought him joy and a sense of home. The beach was his sanctuary, and summer, with its endless possibilities and sun-drenched days, was his favorite season.

Throughout his life, Bruce found happiness in the simple and meaningful pleasures: gathering with family and friends for lively barbecues, cheering on his beloved teams during baseball and football games, and nurturing a lifelong admiration for Corvettes. He was never one to miss an opportunity for connection or for fun.

More than anything, Bruce was devoted to his loved ones. He showed a fierce and unwavering passion for being present in the lives of his family, never missing a sporting event, always the loudest cheerleader in the stands. Even amidst the demands of work, he found time for bike rides, fishing and various adventures, always striving to create memories that would last a lifetime.

He instilled in those he loved the importance of hard work and the quiet strength of resilience. His legacy lives on in the values he imparted, the laughter he shared, and the countless moments of encouragement and support he so freely gave.

Bruce’s kindness, spirit, and love will continue to echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, always. We love you, Dad, may your soul be at peace.

A memorial service for Bruce will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
