Carl William Richards Jr.

Carl William Richards Jr., 86, of Fort Meyers, FL passed away on Friday September 26, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Carl lived in Fort Meyers, FL and had a summer home in Manahawkin, NJ. Carl attended St John’s high School until it’s closing, graduating from Roman High School. He graduated from Philadelphia College of Textile and Sciences with a bachelor’s degree in computer sciences. Carl loved football playing, coaching and watching. He also played basketball and baseball, and soccer in college. Carl loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. As a retiree he enjoyed boating, fishing and happy hour with friends. He was a member of the V.F.W. on Long Beach Island and the American Legion in Fort Myers, Florida.

Carl is predeceased by his parents Carl and Mary Richards and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife Christina, daughter Debbie Richards, son Carl Richards III, son Leo Richards and wife Denise, grandchildren Leo Richards and wife Stephanie, Katie Richards, Maddie Richards, and Alix Richards.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Carl’s name to Tunnel to Towers.

Visitation will be held at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 2:00pm-4:00pm, with a funeral home service at 3:30pm
