

A letter carrier for many years in Beach Haven, he was known as the “Whistling Mailman”.
Charlie was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific where he was involved in heavy action. He was the recipient of several service medals including the Purple Heart.
Charlie met his wife, Lois Gideon, at a Beach Haven Fire House dance in 1948 where they first Jitterbugged together and then married in 1949.
He was predeceased by his daughter Diane.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 67 years, Lois, his son, Chuck and his wife Suzanne of New York City as well as his daughter Suzanne Welker of Annapolis, MD.
His grandchildren, Andrea, Victor, Nicholas, Corinne, Deb and Jenn.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 17th at 2PM. VIsitation will be from 12PM until the time of services at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Company in Beach Haven where he was the oldest living member.
