Charles L Rittweger

Charles Lester Rittweger, 77, of Barnegat, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2019. Charles “Chuck” was a proud student of the Clemson University Fighting Tigers. Chuck pursued a degree in a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Pharmaceutical Industry at Rutgers University night school, while raising a family and working a full-time job. In 1976, he completed his MBA at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Charles is predeceased by his parents, Charles Babitt and Mildred Ruth Rittweger (née Fehon), and his wife, Patricia Mercer. He is survived by: his daughters, Christine “Renee” Chrystefor and Holly Rittweger and his sons, Scott (Lisa), Jeffrey (Elizabeth), Christopher (Amanda), and Timothy Rittweger; and his seven grandchildren, Kathryn (Ryan), Lindley (Timothy), Morgan (Chris), Christopher, Jr., Sebastian, Maximillian, and Nicholas. Chuck is also survived by: his siblings, Louis (Ginger) and James; his seven nieces, Katie, Elizabeth “Buffy”, Carolyn, Hannah, Molly, Melissa, Kelsey; his three nephews, Thomas, Ian “Zeke”, and Seth; and, his former wife, Suzanne Goodman. Charles was born in Newark, NJ and lived in Barnegat for several years. Charles was also known to many good friends as Charlie especially those he made at the local restaurants such as the Old Causeway, Elements, Lefty's, Stafford Diner, and the Barnegat Diner where he will be greatly missed. Calling hours will be on Thursday, January 10, 2019 to visit with family and friends from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ. Following the calling hours, a memorial service will be held from 12:30 – 2:00pm.
