Christopher Wayne Suggs passed away on September 17, 2020. He was born on Thanksgiving Day in 1985 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ and is survived by his loving parents, Pam and Wayne Suggs, his brother, Eric and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Chris was a graduate of Watchung Hills Regional High School and went on to graduate with honors from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor's in Finance. Chris first exhibited his entrepreneurial skills at age five when he founded Coins From Around the World, an after-school club for young numismatists. Then, at age ten, he developed a passion for magic tricks and with his trusty assistants – brother Eric and hamster Teddy - began performing at children’s birthday parties. Later, at the age of 15, Chris started tutoring friends in math which he later parlayed into his career as a business owner of a tutoring school in Manhattan. Chris paired his fluency in Spanish and his love for travel with frequent trips to Spain and South America. As a sport enthusiast, he was often found at Yankee and Knicks games and attended Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis. Chris will be remembered as an engaging teacher, an empathetic friend and a beloved family member. Vaya con Dios, mi hijo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Due to COVID-19, the funeral service will remain private.

I just want to send my deepest sympathies. I will always remember Chris as an incredible kid. Several of his teachers would joke that he was the sensible dad of his tight group of friends. I am lucky to have had the opportunity to watch him grow up during his teen years. He will always be one of my cherished kids.

Although we have never met, I’m so sorry for the loss of you son & brother, Chris.

Chris was one of the highest quality individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing in my life and that is a testament to his wonderful upbringing. I went to the same high school as Chris but we only go to know each other during our college age. He always treated me as well as any of his closest friends and this really speaks wonders of his character. Although I moved quite far away, he would always reach out to me and make it a point to check in knowing I’ve been going through some challenging times. I truly cannot express how much this meant to me as he reached out to me more often than even some family members.

Such a kind caring soul, the world would no doubt be a better place if we had more Christophers. I’m certain he’s watching over us and hope you can all take strength in knowing this. Although taken far too early, he will be dearly missed and never forgotten. I pray for you all to find peace in this tragedy.

I have been trying to find the words to say since I heard of Chris' passing and I am still stunned. I think about him every day and I still don't have the words to express my sadness.

The last time we saw each other was in New York City circa 2014, and I was so moved by his hospitality and generosity. I got to witness the impact he had on his students by meeting some of them, who simply gushed about Chris as a teacher. We tried a few times to meet elsewhere in the world and sadly were never able to swing it, but we nevertheless kept in touch and I cherished his friendship. I don't have the strongest relationships with all of my extended family and even though we only saw each other a few times in our lives, he was the one I felt closest to.

Chris lives on in our hearts. I send my love to Pam, Wayne and Eric.

I am so very sorry to hear about Chris. We met through mutual friends as I was at Pingry and my classmates were from the area. I only heard about your loss yesterday as I am actually in Italy for my MBA, thanks to Chris as he is the one who tutored me last fall in my studying and preparation for my gmat exam. He was incredibly intelligent and i am grateful To him for helping me. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Pam & Wayne,

We were shocked and saddened by the news. We moved as your neighbors when Chris was one year old. Initially, we didn’t have too many neighbors around, so at Halloween, Chris used to come to our home for a trick-or-treat and he always did. We have the fondest memory of those times. We saw him grow up to a wonderful young man that he became. If we ran into him outside, he never forgot to come and say “hello” to us. Neela still remembers his loving hugs when he used to run to her and give them. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time in your life.

Dear Pam, Wayne and Eric,

My heart is breaking with you and for you. There are no words that I can say to ease your pain but take solace in knowing that Chris was smart, kind hearted and a friend to all. I remember Pam telling me that she once told Chris - "It's okay to get a "B". That's how driven he was.

May your memories and the love of your family and many friends help you through these very difficult times.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless!

With Love,
Nancy Spitz
