Dominick Anthony Natale ("Magee") of Manahawkin, passed away at home late Friday, August 12th, after being surrounded by family and friends during a long battle with illness. He was 99. The son of Angelina DiDominico and Pasquale Natale, he was born in Edinburg, PA, on 9/17/1911. He graduated early from Lawrence County Public Schools, then attended New Castle Trade School where he completed programs in both Drafting and Machine Shop. He relocated to Rutherford, NJ, and married Eleanor Vernaleken , the girl next door. They were long time residents of Wood-Ridge, NJ, where they raised their two daughters, as well as a myriad of pets.
Dominick was an inventor, Tool & Die Maker and founder of Natale Machine & Tool Co., Inc. in Carlstadt, NJ, where he continued to be President for 64 years until the time of his death. His company manufactures "Circle D Lights", patented, specialty lighting units. His portable units are extensively utilized by fire departments and emergency services; while his permanent units have been used in various locations, including the Lincoln Tunnel. Dominick literally "lit up the world" when his lights illuminated the Unisphere at the 1964/65 NY World's Fair. Among many innovations, Dominick has designed specialized machines, molds and tools that benefitted various individuals and industries.
During his lifetime, Dominick enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, playing pool, dancing, singing, vegetable gardening and watching wrestling. He was known as a generous, ambitious, hard-working man who enjoyed leisure time spent with friends and family.
Dominick was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor. He is survived by his daughters, Lynn Natale of Mayetta, NJ, and Karen Natale of Toms River, NJ; granddaughter Kate Mabie and her husband, Ricky; and step-grandchildren Ronnie, Michael and Dean Castrovinci, Dean's wife Trish, and their respective children.
Visitations will be held at two locations: Tuesday, 8/16, 3-5 & 7-9 @ Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin; Wednesday, 8/17, 3-5 & 7-9 @ Macagna, Diffily, Onorato FH, 41 Ames Ave., Rutherford. Thurs, 8/18, Funeral service at Macagna, Diffily, Onorato @10:30 AM, followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst.
