

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Linda (Dreher) Ingling, his loving children; Wendy Schaefer and husband Chuck, Michael and wife Jean Marie, Kenneth, Donald and girlfriend Shannan. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren; Jesse and wife Louise, Holly, Regina, David, Amanda, Brenden, and Justin, his precious great-grandchildren; Emma and Cameron, as well as his nephews; Carl and Robert and their families.
Don worked 26 years as a field engineer for Unisys Corp but met his most rewarding career as a paramedic for 20 years. He began his second career working out of Community Memorial Hospital and Southern Ocean Medical Center. He then obtained his full-time paramedic position at Virtua Health, Marlton where he became a supervisor and retired as Logistics Chief. He was affectionately known by his coworkers as “Pop-Pop”. During 9/11 Don was part of a search and rescue team from New Jersey. He was a firefighter/EMT and lifetime member of the Surf City Volunteer Fire Company and EMS.
Don was an avid surf fisherman and was proud to have won the 51st Annual LBI Surf Fishing Tournament, reeling in the largest striped bass in the fall competition. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Goose Pond Gunning Club. He was a dedicated NASCAR fan. He was a talented musician who loved playing his guitar and singing along with his family.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 4-7pm at Thomas L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, NJ with a service at 6:30pm. Burial will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Columbus Cemetery, 24 Cherry Lane, Columbus, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s name may be made to the Surf City Volunteer Fire Company and EMS, 713 Long Beach Blvd, Surf City, NJ 08008.
