

We are saddened to announce the passing of Edward Joseph Cassidy of Manahawkin, NJ, on February 24, 2017. Edward was born on May 1, 1947 in Jersey City to Edward and Florence Cassidy. The eldest of five, he grew up in West New York.
In 1966, he met Paula Theresa Pluchino of Fort Lee, at a New Year's Eve party and they married two years later on November 2, 1968. Together they moved to Palisades Park, NJ, and welcomed their daughter, Mary Theresa, in 1969. Mrs. Cassidy remembers how delighted he was to have a girl and she immediately became the light of his life and always had a soft spot for her, looking forward to dancing with her at her wedding. They moved to Bergenfield, NJ in 1972 and had their second child, a boy they named Edward Frank and then had another boy in 1977, Richard Thomas. In 1987, the family moved to Manahawkin. Edward was a devoted husband and father who took great pride in his children. Richard excelled at sports especially baseball and he loved to watch him play while Edward would become a businessman, opening up a granite shop in 1997. Edward supported his son and believed wholeheartedly in his success. In 2000, he joined him as a salesman and together they built up the company to the thriving business it is today. He was especially happy when his grandchildren came along, building memories and strong bonds with each and every one of them. Edward died peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his his wife, their three children and their spouses, Roger Corrales, Lisette Cassidy, Daniele Cassidy; and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Roger Corrales, Jr., Ethan Cassidy, and Aidan, Adyson, and Austin Cassidy.
The viewing will take place at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr, Manahawkin, NJ on Tuesday, February 28th, 2-4 pm and 7-9pm. A Funeral Liturgy will also take place at the funeral Home at 11am on Wednesday.
