Elaine Dorothy Isaksen, 84 of Manahawkin NJ, beloved wife of Clifford Edward Isaksen for 63 years, much adored mother to Andy and Danny, cherished grandmother (Nana) to Chandler, Camryn, Brooke, Rachel, and Luke passed peacefully surrounded by family on December 29, 2022.
Elaine was survived by her sister and best friend Sandra Marti of Harvey Cedars NJ and her nephews Sean Marti of Manahawkin NJ, Jason Marti of Harvey Cedars NJ, and Justin Marti of Manahawkin, NJ. Elaine was predeceased by her father, William Stewart and mother, Dorothy Stewart-Colna.
Elaine was born and raised in Mayfair, Philadelphia until the age of 16 when her family moved to Ship Bottom, NJ. She worked at several jobs including Bell Telephone, real estate and home daycare. With her sister Sandra, Elaine owned a gift store called the Cedars Edge in Harvey Cedars for over 10 years. Her number one love and job though was caring for her family and children.
Elaine’s love for her family was beyond words and expressed in her selflessness, compassion, and giving heart. Elaine always put others first and no earthly possession could compare to the love she gave and received from her family. She shaped the lives of all who knew her and set an example of Christian love that leaves an indelible mark on our hearts and souls. Elaine’s strength and resolve to face any challenge was remarkable – she was the rock of our family. Elaine’s faith was her cornerstone and her guidance was always positive and filled with love.
Elaine loved Christmas with her family and had established the tradition of hosting Christmas Eve dinner at her home over 60 years ago. She loved being surrounded by her family. Decorating her home and the Christmas tree was not something to be rushed. Elaine took her time and enjoyed the process. Every ornament held with it a special memory and its placement on the tree was an opportunity to look back on weddings, births of children and grandchildren and special events. Elaine’s final gift to us was being able to experience Christmas Eve one more time – to have her family and especially all of her grandchildren together was so special. She was beaming and so were we.
Elaine/Mom/Nana will be so deeply missed but she will live on in our hearts and watch over us from Heaven.
The family will hold a private memorial.
Elaine’s passion was the care and welfare of children. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to “Adoptions From The Heart” in memory of Elaine Isaksen at this location https://afth.org/donate/
