Eleanor A. Hart, 81, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024 in the loving presence of family.
Eleanor was the first born to Jim and Mary Ellen Brogan of Barrhead, Scotland. She was a much loved sister, survived by Mary Frances, Honor, and Patrick.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Edwin P. Hart and her brother Jim.
Eleanor held fond relationships with Edwin's family, including daughter Kathryn, son Stephen (d. 2023), daughter-in-law Gail, loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also had many loving nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by Edwin's brother, Stephen (Hilda.)
Eleanor's long and happy marriage of 38 years to Edwin brought much joy to them both and to all those family and friends who enjoyed their hospitality over the years.
Leaving the shores of Scotland in 1964, Eleanor made a new life for herself in the United States of America. An avid reader of history with a prodigious memory for facts and dates, Eleanor’s knowledge of American history reflected the fascination, deep affection and loyalty she held for her adopted country. Eventually, Eleanor relinquished her dual British/American nationality to gain full American citizenship.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 10:00AM-12:00PM at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ. A funeral home service will be held from 12:00PM-12:30PM. Burial to follow at Brig. General William C. Doyle Veteran Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Wrightstown, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, Eleanor expressed a wish that any donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
