Gary A Shinn Jr.

He was predeceased by his father, Gary.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Kim, and his loving children: Haley Shinn, Kenneth Whelan (Dina), Jessica Whelan, Dana Christensen (Tyler), Michelle Rasoilo (Matthew), and Erika Slingerland, and his precious grandchildren: Jasmine Whelan, Kenneth Whelan Jr. (KJ), Samantha Whelan, Olivia Rasoilo, and River Christensen.

He is also survived by his mother, Emily Richard, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leonard and Mary Jo Sutton, his nephew and niece, Joseph and Alyssa Sutton, his special cousins Gary Gore and Victoria Turner, as well as extended family members.

Gary worked for Caesar’s Casino in Atlantic City as an operating engineer, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a proud member of Local 68.

He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, and he enjoyed reading and watching movies, especially Marvel films. He also spent 35 years as a soccer coach for Stafford Recreation and was a faithful parishioner of Lord of Lords Church in Waretown, NJ.

Gary was proud to be part of the Stafford community, where he made many lifelong friends. Above all else, his happiest moments were the times spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He valiantly fought his illness of AML until the very end. He wouldn't give up.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s name may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation (leukemiarf.org), Wounded Warriors, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
