Jerry is pre-deceased by the Love of his life Mercy Ann Greenaway and his beloved sister Janet Lawson. Survived by his brother William McDonald, his son George Greenaway III and his wife Michelle, his daughter LiesjeMarie Fennimore, as well as his grandchildren Timothy Fennimore, Kyle Fennimore, Brittney McNamara & Tyler Greenaway and many nieces and nephews.
Gerald was born to William & Julia McDonald in Brooklyn NYC. The family moved to Branchburg NJ 1960's.
Jerry joined US Navy in 1957 and served our country honorably on a submarine for years.
Jerry was a long time resident in South Jersey from 1976 to 2020, where he raised his family. He was a lineman for PSE&G for decades, everyone knew him as a dedicated hard-working wonderful man.
Jerry was known to his family as "PopPop". He can be described as a one-of-a-kind, no-nonsense man, with the most caring, generous soul. He was an animal lover and especially loved the company of his many beloved cats and dogs that pre-deceased him. In his free-time he enjoyed being near the water, on his boat, fishing, going to the Florida Keys and spending time and sharing stories with family. Jerry will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Service will be held at Thos. L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, NJ 08050 on Saturday February 29, 2020 from 1-3pm.
