Helen was born in Brooklyn in 1936 to Vincent Joseph and Celia Maniglia. She met her future husband, Steve Ferringo, in 1954 when she asked her friends to invite him to her sweet 16 birthday party. It was love at first site, and they were married for 60 years until Steve’s passing in 2017.
Helen and Steve moved to Long Beach Island around 1960 and resided there until 2002. She worked at ACME and upon her retirement they then moved across the bridge to Manahawkin to be closer to their growing family, mostly their 8 grandchildren.
Steve was the love of her life as well as her greatest foe. Their home was one of love, fun and much laughter. Even when they were older, their teenage granddaughters would think nothing of showing up unannounced at 10pm with their friends to play games and see the ‘Steve & Helen’ show.
Helen loved scratch-offs and arguing with Steve. She also enjoyed music and loved dancing with her granddaughters to all of todays music. But her favorites were Tom Jones and Rod Stewert.
Steve and Helen were rarely apart from one another. They enjoyed weekly trips to Atlantic City, and family gatherings at their children’s homes. Steve was waiting with open arms for Helen in heaven, and if there is a casino “up there”, it was their first stop. Rumor has it they were stuck $1200 in the first hour…but the dinner was comped.
Helen was pre deceased by her parents, Vincent Joseph and Celia Maniglia, Her husband Steve Ferringo, and her siblings Tony Maniglia, Rose Semo and Cecilia Cantarella.
Helen is survived by her four beloved children and their spouses, Stephen and Maryellen Ferringo, Anthony Ferringo and Ron Canal, Joseph and Patricia Ferringo and Lori and Joseph Rulli.
