I just learned of Jimmy's passing. When someone makes a difference in your life, you want others to know. I knew Jimmy for 1-1/2 years when we were both in medical school in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Jimmy was studying very hard to get back to the US, and he showed me how to prepare for the examination required to do this. He was bigger than life-really, and he led by example. He forged a path that several of us followed, and for that, I will be forever grateful. He looked at the danting prospect of transferring back to a US medical school from Mexico, and said, "why not?" I still remember study sessions where he, Phil Stepaniak, and Jerry(cannot remember his last name) would be studying hard, yelling, laughing, and just getting it done.  He was a giant. My condolences to his family for this great loss. Rest in peace Jimmy, and thank you. 

I only became friends with Jimmy, a lifelong friend of my husband Roger, when we moved to south Jersey.  Roger spent every summer in LBI with Jimmy, Johnnie, and Eddie, and reunited with them when we moved to Barnegat. 
With old friends time stands still, and I’m thankful to have become friends with him the last few years. 
Jimmy was at our home every Thanksgiving, for Super Bowls, special prize fights on tv, etc.  I always enjoyed his company and interesting conversations.  He will surely be missed ❤️


I met Jimmy for the first time back in ‘66.  We became friends instantly! He had such a positive impact on me in all aspects of life and was my role model. We grew up together during the summers at LBI and special occasions off-season. Our families were friends too. Although we went our separate ways during adulthood, we reconnected back in 2010 and especially when my wife Patricia and I moved down to Barnegat, NJ. He would spend every Thanksgiving at our house and we would reminisce about our youth and loved ones.    He was often a conduit of medical information for us. We will truly miss him!  Jimmy will live in my memory till the end of time!

I had the opportunity to study beside Jimmy and saw the intensity to want to be the finest doctor during his medical school days, and the caring nature he delivered to his patients in the hospital. Yes, Jimmy worked tirelessly but he also loved to party. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and throwing a pool party that lasted till morning. He treasured his family, friends and being a Doctor.
       I will be among the many people who will miss him, taking an early morning jog on the beach, paring his coffee with Baileys Irish Cream,  Singing to Van Morrison  Brown Eyed Girl, and throwing the best Superbowl parties.

I met Jimmy 35 years ago while professional cleaning the home of his best friend Ed.  Our first date was very interesting, he ask if he could stop first at a facility to check in on a patient.
  We hit it off right away.  I was widowed at the time with 3 young children and he didn't care. We went fishing many  times on his Sea Ray Boat . My very first gift from Jimmy was a 22 automatic Browning Rifle I loved it. We went skeet shooting many times.  We would go  duck hunting on the bay across from the Bible Conference Building,( before the sun went down). Well one time coming back we ran out of gas, I paddle and he jumped in the water and pulled the boat to shore.  We didn't get any ducks but we got wet. Ha Ha... We went to Maryland's corn field ( in the underground blind) to shoot for Geese , we both shot 2 each (he had such a great time) we ate them for Thanksgiving.  We went deer hunting one time,(we didn't know what we were doing) Ha..We left after he got off from work,  he had cologne on, and you could smell my perfume, no wonder we didn't get any deer!  
He loved quading
We were really buddies we enjoyed each others company.
Jimmy proposed to me on fourth of July nite,( in his parents small boat) on the Harvey Cedars Bay.
We married in the back yard of our lake home, and our son James-Michael was born soon after.
Jimmy was in the delivery room, letting me know every minute when the next contractions were coming!...Ha Ha  Jimmy was so happy when he cut the umbilical cord, he was smiling from ear to ear. 
Jimmy and I were and had stayed friends, we had our ups and downs like any relationship however, we always seemed to get through them and continue our friendship.
He loved watching his son grow into a wonderful young man.
He mentioned to me how delighted he was to see Bryan (his step-son) become a very successful man, and how Nichole (his step daughter) was a great mom and married  a good man.

Jim Stanch was a step father to my wife and a good friend to my self. Jim was unique and not your typical doctor, he was a pleasant man and was always greeted me with a smile on his face. He was always willing to help wether you needed a doctors note because you cut class the day before or you were feeling under the weather.
      I will always remember him as he was when he would greet me at the end of his dock at his lakeside home in Manahawkin. Dressed in his scrubs and oversized Air Jordons. He would ask how the days bite was and ask if I needed anything and if I was hungry. The “Doc” loved the comfort s of his home and always had a craving for Chinese.
      Jim loved shooting sports and the outdoors, but above all he loved medicine. He believed wholeheartedly that science and the right medicine could cure anything. There is one prescription that Jim wrote for everything and everyone and that was Fun.
      Thank you for all the memories, you will be dearly missed.
