Joan A. McGowan

Joan was born on July 12th 1930 to Russell DeMark and Minnie Boice.

Joan is predeceased by her first husband Harry Purcell, and her second loving husband and soul mate, Ralph L. McGowan.

She was also predeceased by her beloved son, Lance F. Purcell, daughter Darlene McGowan, and her brothers; Theodore Filkohazi, John Filkohazi, Russell DeMark Jr.,and sister Geraldine A. DeMark.

Joan is survived by her daughter Joanna Branigan and husband Gary, her daughter-in-law, Juanita Purcell and grandchildren,Corey Branigan, Lance Purcell Jr. and Brian Purcell. She is also survived by her brother, Andrew Filkohazi and sister, Patricia Filkohazi Hendricks.

Joan enjoyed being a homemaker and decorator. She was a wonderful cook and hostess. She always made sure whether you

were family or not, you felt full and comfortable by her food and graciousness.

Joan, when asked by family or friends, for a favor or support, would never say no, and would always find a way to help.

Joan, was also a bus driver for handicapped and mentally challenged children, which she took great responsibility and care.

But her true passion was her husband, children and grandchildren. Joan was a loving aunt and loyal friend. She will be dearly

missed by all who knew her. God Bless you mom.

The funeral service will be held at St.Mary's Cemetery, Barnegat, NJ on May 14th, 2016 at 11:00 am.
