Joanne Curry

JOANNE ELIZABETH CURRY (nee Cosgrove). Joanne Curry died peacefully at her home in the Perry’s Lake area of Manahawkin, NJ on November 17, 2022 at the age of 80. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey on February 17, 1942, she was the daughter of the late George and Agnes (Geary) Cosgrove. She grew up in the Avenel community of Woodbridge, NJ.

After graduating from Woodbridge High School in 1960, she began working at New Jersey Bell Telephone Company.

In 1966 she married Robert F.R. Curry, thanks to a blind-date set up by friends.

Initially residing in Edison and Hamilton Square, Joanne primarily raised her three children in Hillsborough, NJ. When her children were older, she returned to the workforce as a bookkeeper and medical billing specialist for multiple medical centers and doctors, retiring as the bookkeeper for Dr. Les Greenberg in Princeton, NJ.

After retirement, Joanne and her husband moved to Long Beach Island, NJ, later moving to the Perry’s Lake area of Manahawkin. Joanne was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Parish on Long Beach Island. Joanne was a kind hearted person who was generous and enjoyed helping others. She actively volunteered at the St. Francis Community Center food bank for over 20 years.

Joanne is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert F.R. Curry, Sr.; son Robert F.R. Curry, Jr. (Virginia) of Allentown, PA; daughter Jennifer Curry Pham (Tung) of Missoula, MT; son Sean A.G. Curry (Paul Fitzgerald) of Philadelphia, PA; and her two grandsons Ryall and Declan Pham. Also surviving are her brother Robert Cosgrove of Nazareth, PA, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

The family will announce services at a later date.
