Joanne V. Dimauro

September 9, 1939 - December 11, 2024

Joanne Virginia DiMauro, passed away on December 11, 2024, at 85 years old. She was surrounded by love and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Joanne is survived by her daughter, Jennifer McCluskey, granddaughter, Maya McCluskey, and her partner, Rick Barry. She was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Mildred Staples.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Joanne proudly served in the U.S. Army before building a long career in public service. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Essex County Courts judges in Newark, New Jersey for her entire career. After retiring, Joanne remained active in her community, volunteering with the Verona Rescue Squad and supporting local animal shelters.

Joanne had a lifelong commitment to helping others and was passionate about animal welfare. Over the years, she fostered numerous dogs and cats in need. A devout Catholic, Joanne loved spending time at church and taking long walks in nature with her partner and dogs. Above all else, she loved being a mother, grandmother, and great friend to many, who will remember her for her wonderful laugh and love of ice cream.

Joanne’s legacy will live on through her kindness and commitment to animals. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the ASPCA. (See Link Below)
