John W Jelinski
February 12, 1958 – July 22, 2018
On July 22, 2018, heaven called to claim one of their own. John Jelinski, age 60, departed this earth in warmth and comfort after a night of laughter spent at home with his family. John, affectionately known as “John J.,” was the Renaissance Man, a “fun-guy,” and, most importantly, the husband and father that was always there.
John was born and raised in Rahway, NJ, and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1982 where he was the rush chairman of his TKE (Tau Kappa Epsilon) fraternity chapter. It was also at Fairleigh where John would meet Elaine Jelinski (née Romenko), whom he would marry in 1985. John and Elaine had a marriage full of happiness; and, together, they raised three daughters: Kelly, Laura, and Megan. In later years, John was proud to serve on Barnegat’s EMT squad where his selfless compassion served the community. John was also a lover of many things, including: books, music, all things history related, collecting, and vintage/funky things.
John was, among many things, honest, faithful, loyal, dependable, intelligent, generous, hardworking, and a man who never gave up—no matter what life threw at him. He was a Jersey boy, a Sox fan, a true American patriot, and a man who sincerely loved his family and the Lord. Although taken from us too soon, John lives on in our hearts and our memories. Where we go, his love will be with us. He will be greatly missed.
John 14:1-4, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
The arrangements were handled privately by the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ. To leave online condolences, please visit www.shinnfuneralhome.com

Whether John was making subs or teaching kids, he always had a smile and was happy to see me. He always made it clear his wife and girls were his priority and his love. I feel privileged to have known him and his family. God bless ladies.
