Karen was a one of a kind person. She had a ginormous heart that had enough room for everyone in it. She lived a beautiful life with her dogs by her side throughout the years. Harvey cedars was so special, growing up at the beach in the home her father built , and being able to be living there until the end .  She loved the ocean, the sand and the memories that were there.  She was a wonderful neighbor, friend and teacher.  She changed students lives for the better and even the people in her daily life just by being there. I know my life is better because I had Karen’s friendship. She was like a bonus grandma to me.  And I’ll forever miss her . I’ll miss her calls to gossip. I’ll miss her talking about the recipes she loves to cook. All her stories about life and teaching.  It was an honor to be there for you , Karen.  I love you, always.

Karen, my Friend for over 60 years, I am sorry you have gone.  My ocean Buddy for so many years,  I hope you are out there on your raft riding the waves.  I will miss our talks and eating out when I was up there. We had a good time.  I am sorry I could not reach you after early August.  

 I will always miss you, my Friend, but I know you are with your Mom, Dad and Colin. You missed them so much.
