

Marie E James, 71 of Manahawkin, NJ entered into eternal rest Friday, September 2, 2016. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on a Friday, July 13, 1945 to the late Edward and Marie (Schierse) Weick. She was the oldest of 10 siblings and a graduate of Little Flower High School and Burlington County College with an Associates degree in Business. On June 26, 1965 she married Robert L (Bob) James who survives. Also surviving are three children, Michele (Dennis) Smith, Matthew (Lisa) James and Gregory James; five grandchildren, Jillian and Mallory Smith, Landon James and Harrison and Amelia James; 7 siblings, Edward (Marcy) Weick, Patricia (Andrew) Florentino, Richard (Sharon) Weick, Kathleen (Carl) Houser, Susan Capizzi, Michael (Julie) Weick and Margaret (Rob) McCloskey; five in-law's Rita (Bud) Homsher, Rosalie Brancato, Margaret (John) Kelly, David (Carole) James and Susanne (Terry) Carsten. Also surviving 34 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Donna Fricke and Judy Weick.
Marie was lovingly known to many as Grammy. She was actively involved with the Red Hat Society, she was a breast cancer survivor and part of the Breast Cancer Support Group, Bosum Buddies at SOCH, she and their dog Benson were a pet therapy team, she was a member of Ocean Community Church and previously volunteered at SOCH, she was a member of the Perrys Lake Community Watch program, Community Police Academy liaison and also volunteered as an usher with the Stafford Township Education Foundation.
She was also Group Leader for Diamond Tours where she and Bob traveled to 37 of the 50 states enjoying many of the nations museums, national landmarks, monuments and state parks.
Marie loved the beach, crafts, traveling, socializing, shopping, gardening, Disney, fashion and the latest gadgets and technology. As an avid Philadelphia sports fan, she enjoyed promoting the rivalry amongst opposing teams. Her many hobbies also including writing, journaling, photo shows but her greatest joy were her 5 grandchildren.
Visitation for Marie is Friday, September 9, 2016 at Thos. L Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, NJ from 5:00-8:00 PM. A celebration Mass is planned for Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11:00, St. Mary's of the Pines Catholic Church, 100 Bishop Way, Manahawkin, NJ. Following cremation, a private burial is planned for family.
