Skip is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Teresa “Terri”, his daughter Michelle Ballin (Ken) and his son Timothy Butler. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Skylar and Kylie, and his brother Thomas.
Skip was born and raised just outside of Philadelphia and was a Phillies fan through and through. Growing up, he enjoyed working on cars with his father and continued this passion through his enjoyment of classic cars. Skip was an incredibly hard-working man who enjoyed building things. He began his own carpentry and painting business when he moved to New Jersey with his wife Terri, and in 1988 he established Skip Butler’s Replacement Windows and Doors.
Skip was a caring and loving man who enjoyed being involved and helping his community. He valued his time as a member of the Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Company where he served as Captain of the Fire Police.
Skip enjoyed taking family vacations and visiting places like Maine, Vermont, and the Pocono Mountains. Skip also had a special attachment to Lancaster and enjoyed traveling there regularly. He opened a gourmet food store on LBI to emulate one of his favorite shops in Lancaster and sourced many of his products from that area.
Skip also had a large heart for animals, especially his beloved cat Fred.
A visitation will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 10:00am-11:00am with a Mass to follow at 11:00am. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, 280 Wells Mill Rd., Waretown, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Company or St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Skip’s name.
