Prior to Osborn Island being her home, Patty was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA for a short time until her family moved to Palmyra NJ, “Park Ave”. Patty believed in living her best life dash and spoke of the importance of it. Patty’s dash started in Palmyra NJ (Park Ave) making lifelong friendships. Making friends and talking with people was natural for Patty as she was truly a loving, caring soul, who put the needs of others before her own. Patty enjoyed listening to other people talk about their life; it was never about Patty. She was a good listener who would offer advice and guidance. Her kindness made you feel special, heard, and she cherished those close to her. Her kindness was unforgettable, donating time to the local soup kitchen in Atlantic City and offering her time at local shelters to help others. Her kind generosity was warm and giving time to others was important to her. Patty cared deeply and if someone was going through something she took it on like it was her own and would help in any way she could.
Patty’s career started at Acme in Cinnaminson, NJ taking her across the parking lot to Caldor. She went to Bethlehem PA with Caldor and then to Manahawkin NJ. From Manahawkin Patty went to Ron Jon’s Surf Shop for 17 years. Patty was recently working at Avalon in Manahawkin where she really liked the team she worked with and cared about them as they cared greatly about her. She enjoyed sales and people; it came natural to her.
Patty’s life dash was not all work. When she wasn’t working, she followed her passion for photography and went to school at the Philadelphia University of Arts, and had her own business named "Captured Moments". Photography always remained important to Patty and she continued to capture moments in her life as well as others. Patty took her photograph talent to the skies, earning her student pilot license and learned to take aerial view photos. I remember a time Patty planned to do a fly over our home on Park Ave, we all stood on the lawn looking up at her as she flew over the house looking down at us waving. Patty went from the sky to the sea after purchasing a sailboat. She loved being in the water, out in a boat even if she didn’t know how to sail. She enjoyed going out with friends and family for a sunset cruise with an occasional run a ground. Patty liked when she could spend time out of the water, painting her boat and talking to others at the marina.
When Patty was on land she enjoyed cheering on her favorite Philadelphia Phillies and sharing some bean dip with friends cheering on the Eagles. Road trips in her Jeep with her dogs to Florida for baseball spring training was normal. Planning weekend or week-long excursions with her family, friends and her nieces and nephew were a priority, and she made it happen. Patty loved and cared for each of her nieces Jessica, Ava, Anna and nephew Nicholas like they were her own. She was so proud of each of them and wanted nothing but the best for them. Patty cherished her cat LuLu, and Lu Lu shared that love with Patty. Lu Lu was her baby. Family was everything to Patty. Her devotion to her family and her love is undeniable and none other like it.
If you were lucky enough to know Patty and spend time with her, you know and recognize her by her beautiful energy, electric smile and her kind heart. But her sense of humor and her laugh, the loud, fun hard belly laughter was uplifting and contagious. Laughing with Patty would make you laugh so hard you would cry and your stomach muscles would hurt. Patty was a special, beautiful person, sister, aunt and friend with a beautiful soul who will never be forgotten and forever missed.
Patty would say, live your best dash.
