December 30, 1952 – July 19, 2025
Beloved Child of God, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend, Neighbor.
The gift of Patty came to this earth on December 30, 1952 as the second daughter of William J. Deren (d.) and Jean (Gallagher) Deren (d.). Her siblings; Kathleen M. Fox (Gary (d.)), Sheila A. Deren (d.), William J. Deren Jr. (Bonnie), Theresa M. Haupricht (Brad), and Colleen M. Daly (Mark) are proud and blessed to call her “sister”. We have a lifetime of memories of her kindness, intelligence, protectiveness and love to warm us for the rest of our days and we thank God for her.
She married the love of her life, Dennis M. Golden, on October 23, 1971. A simple, beautiful Wedding Mass in the historic St. John’s Church in Lakehurst, NJ. Her mom made her gown and she was a radiant, happy bride. They were happily married 45 years before God took Dennis home in 2016. They shared a love of family, friends, travel, cooking and working around their home on Whitecap Ave. in Manahawkin, N.J.
They welcomed three beautiful children into the world; Brett W. Golden, Erin E. Golden, and Bethany C. Horne (John). Patty and Dennis loved their children immensely, taking great interest in all they did. They created a home their adult children always came back to. Their children loved them back with equal fervor.
Patty’s circle of love was completed by the birth of her grandchildren. Bridget Golden and John “Jack” Golden were the light of her life. Patty delighted in spoiling her grandchildren. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for them and they loved her as only grandchildren can love. Completely and unabashedly.
A wonderful neighbor and friend, many people, especially her dear friends Carol, Karen, Fran, and everyone in her Scripture Sister group and Parish family at St. Mary’s, took delight in Patty’s Irish wit and humor, her faith, and her kindness. Her Parish family was Patty’s source of strength and joy and she loved you all. A special, heartfelt thank you to Monsignor Ken Tuzeneu and Fr. Marcin Kania, who gifted Patty with a tremendous amount of peace, courage, and love as they prayed with her and for her on her final journey home. She wanted only the two of you to walk that walk with her. We are so grateful to you both.
As we say farewell, not goodbye, those of us who remain here will continue to lean upon Patty’s wonderful gifts of strength, courage, faith, love, hope, intelligence, kindness, humor, dignity, grace and peace for comfort and guidance. We truly thank God for the gift of Patty and know we will see her in Heaven. There she will be welcomed by all her family and friends who have gone before her, especially her husband Dennis, who she has missed terribly; her parents Bill and Jean, and her sweet sister Sheila.
Patty is with God in a completely restored body enjoying eternal life. We are Blessed.
