Raymond A. Gormley

AGE: 90 MANAHAWKIN

Raymond A. Gormley, 90, son of Maude and Mark (Ray) Gormley then of Hawthorne, NJ. He served in the US Army for 5 ½ years in war zones of North Africa, Italy, India and Iran and was promoted to Captain in 1946 and remained in the Officers Reserve for many years. Married to Violet Harford in 1946 and was in the Photoengraving Business in Fairlawn until he became Office Manager of the Hawthorne Water Dept. and retired to NJ. in 1984. He had been a former Hawthorne Rotarian, Past President of Long Beach Island Kiwanis and a former emergency room volunteer in Southern Ocean County Hospital for 22 years. He had been a member of the Ocean Community Church, and a member of the High Mt. Country Club in Franklin Lakes, Manahawkin, NJ and he and his wife were avid golfers.

He is survived by his wife, Violet and many cousins, nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Memorial service Friday, July 9th at 11:00 AM at Community Church at 1492 Rt. 72, Manahawkin, NJ. followed by interment of cremains at the Brig. Gen. Doyle Cemetery at Arneytown, NJ.
