June 30, 2020. Robert passed away peacefully at home with his daughter Christine and her husband John, right by his side.
Robert was born to his late parents Angelo and Teresa (Lucy) Andriuolo. Robert was born in Manhattan, and then moved to the Bronx, NY. He was the youngest of five children. His four elder sisters, Josephine, Gloria, Virginia and Veronica, have all predeceased him.
Once married, he and his family resided in Washington Twp., New Jersey (Bergen County), then Warwick, NY. He was predeceased by his most cherished wife of 56 years, Gloria. He was also predeceased by grandson, and best friend, Jon Michael. He is survived by his only daughter, Christine Indorato and her husband John Indorato, of Manahawkin, NJ, and several nieces and nephews.
Bob, was beyond an exceptional man. He was a leader, a role model, a mentor, an amazing father, a loving grandfather, and a friend to all that came to know him. From his time spent in the US Navy, NAS. Chincoteague, VA., then onto Panama to operate the weather service station, Bob left an indelible mark on everyone he met. After his honorable discharge from the US Navy, in 1954, Bob went on to become a brave firefighter with the New York City Fire Dept. His unending diligence, hard work, dedication, and compassion lead him to the appointment of Deputy Chief, Division 1, Ladder 5 & Engine 24, in 1980. He was bestowed with many commendations and awards for bravery and inspiring service. He was a member of the NY Retired Firefighters Association.
Bob was a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. OLGC Counsel, Washington Twp., as well as a member of the K Of C, St. Mary's Parish, Manahawkin, since he relocated to Barnegat six years ago. Bob's favorite pastimes besides being amongst his family, were reading, golfing, deep sea fishing, and dancing.
Robert will always be cherished dearly, thought of often, and sorely missed by everyone. His love for, and faith in God was absolute! His love of his Country was unwavering. He will be remembered for his unrelenting optimism, and hope in even the toughest of situations. He always had a smile on his face, and a song in his heart that he loved to sing to others.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00, Monday, July 6 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 747 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ with the interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Beachview Ave., Manahawkin.
