Robert Lassonde

Born in Warwick, N.Y. in June of 1971, he attended Washingtonville High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation management with a concentration in YMCA studies from Springfield College in Massachusetts.

His love for the outdoors originated from summers spent at the YMCA of Greater New York, where he made countless lifelong friends. He began his career as a counselor and advanced to camp director, in addition to working as an outdoor environmental educator. He worked for YMCA locations in Huguenot, Brooklyn, and Pawling, N.Y. before moving to Ocean County in 2003 to run a 140-acre summer camp facility in Brick. Later he worked with at-risk youth in residential and workforce preparation settings.

Bobby had a deep love of the water, fishing off the beaches of Cape Cod and LBI. Sittin’ on the dock of the bay, watching the tide roll away is where you could find him.

Bobby is predeceased by his parents, Robert Vincent and Carol Ann Lassonde, and both sets of grandparents. He is survived by his beloved son, Robert Kenneth Lassonde, beloved sister Jennifer Lassonde and brother-in-law Devin Mooney. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Susan and Kevin Moran, his aunt Mary Hall and all his loving cousins, Barbara (Don), Joseph (Kori), Michael (Kerry), Colleen (Mike), Erin, Kelly (Dennis), and Jamie.

Bobby made the world a better place with his kind and gentle nature, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. We will deeply miss his loving smile, contagious laugh and quick wit. He has touched the lives of so many that his loss will be felt by everyone.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 4pm-7pm at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr , Manahawkin
