Sal is survived by his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife, Josephine, of 56 years; his daughter Jeannine, her husband, Joe, and granddaughter, Gabriella; his daughter Elizabeth and her husband, Keith. He was predeceased by his daughter Doreen. Sal is also survived by his sister-in-law, Phyllis, brother-in-law, Joe, his nephews, niece, grandnieces, grandnephew, cousins, and loving godsons.
Born and raised in New York, NY, he later moved to Staten Island and worked for the New York Transit Authority for more than 25 years. Sal, a veteran, proudly served his country, first in the U.S. Army and then in the National Guard for more than 30 years.
Sal was an active volunteer in his community and especially loved being a part of Calvary Baptist Church. He had a passion for animals, horseback riding, dancing, reading, and history. Above all else, the times he spent with his family brought him much happiness and joy. He had a large group of lifelong friends who he considered family and who loved him for his big heart. Sal loved to laugh and always brought the positive out in those around him. He reminded everyone to “not sweat the small stuff.” His contagious smile is one we’ll always remember.
