OBITUARY

Samuel Musella

April 1, 1941November 22, 2019

Samuel Musella, 78, of Manahawkin, NJ passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, November 22, 2019. Born in Hoboken, NJ, he and his wife also lived and raised their children in Jersey City and Colonia before retiring in Manahawkin.

His son, Jimmy, predeceased him. Sam is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Barbara, his loving children, Rosemary Freitas and her husband, Richard Jr., Christina Dobbin and her husband, Donald, Sammy Jr., David, and Joey and his wife Tanith. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren; Ashley Marie, Barbara, Victoria, Richie, Gabriella, Alexandria, Cheyenne, Samantha, David, Lucas and Isla as well as his precious great-grandchildren; Jackson, Richie, Adeline, Ana-Sophia and Ryder.

Sam enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles; he was an avid fan of Elvis and Johnny Cash as well as the TV shows, Colombo and Matlock. He had a green thumb when it came to gardening; he loved getting his hands into the dirt. Always with a smile on his face, he was always found making people laugh and feel welcome whenever around him. He would play Santa Claus for his children and grandchildren and the sounds of his laughter on Christmas Eve will forever be cherished by them.

His greatest love of all was the time he spent with his wife and his family. The lasting memories he made for and with his family will live in their hearts forever. All who knew him will miss him greatly.

A Visitation will be held from 2-6PM on Sunday, November 24th at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 on Monday, November 25th at St. Mary of the Pines, 100 Bishop Lane, Manahawkin with burial to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ

In lieu of flowers, donations in Samuel’s name may be sent to Joan Dancy & PALS Foundation.

Sam was a great guy to work with in Shoprite. He was from Jersey City and so was I. So we thought alike. We talked alike, he believed in America. He worked hard all his life and he`s in heaven now. God bless him.

I knew Sammy for 38years. He was an inspiration to me in how to handle life when he lost a child and family members; how to be a good husband and in how to laugh.
Hugs to the family..
It is a time of year to be thankful. I am thankful I knew Sammy.

My favorite memories of Sam were Saturday morning house cleanings listening to 50s music and laughing ALOT!! He had an amazing sense of humor and enjoyed making fun of each and every one of us! Truth be told we loved it as well❤. Sunday mornings with Entenmanns walnut danish rings, coffee cake (with extra crumbs for Rosemary) and lemon cake anytime!!! You really are the best Sam you will be missed!!!!
